From time to time you may have to block certain third parties from accessing your websites. There are a lot of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and generate fake visits and online traffic. There are spammers who leave links to suspicious Internet sites as comments to site articles. This kind of things could drastically undermine your projects, since nobody likes to visit a website with many hundreds of fake comments, plus the increased site traffic from both spammers and bots could create high load on the web server where your website is hosted, that could result in your site not functioning properly. One of the best solutions in cases like this is to block the IP addresses which generate the fake traffic, in order to make sure that the visits to your Internet site are authentic.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with our company and you want to block one or several IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, that is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a very simple interface, you can stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to do this is to log inside to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You won't need to do anything complicated if you wish to block a whole network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the same exact section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with simply a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your websites inside a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you need to block one or a few IP addresses at some point, you could use the easy-to-use blocking tool, which we have provided with our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With just a few clicks, you will be able to block individual IPs or whole ranges, if necessary. All you will have to do is pick any one of your domains or subdomains from a drop-down menu, select if the blocking must be valid for the root folder or for a subfolder that is part of the Internet site, and then enter the IP address that you'd like to block. For an IP range, you simply need to omit the last octet or the last 2 octets of the address depending on the size of the network which you want to block. Each of the addresses which you have restricted will be listed within the same section and if you wish to whitelist any one of them, you will be able to do it with just a mouse click at any time.
